Today was a good inbox day. I racked up a few more individual poem rejections (healthy, because it means I put my work out there), and learned that my collection didn’t make it to the shortlist for the award it was in the running for. Bummers. BUT my email held some very high points, as well! Balance in all things, right? Bellowing Ark Poetry Journal emailed to accept three of my newer poems, “An Apology to the Lovers of My Youth,” “Spirit Comes to Me,” and “The Poet’s Recitation to Herself on Long Nights,” and just as I was headed to bed, I received a Submittable message from The Muleskinner Journal accepting my poem “Planting Cabbages and Other Sensible Human Things” with some edit suggestions that were exactly what the poem needed. I’m so excited, and humbled, that editorial teams are enjoying my work and think it’s good enough to bring to their readers!
