I am very excited that one of my personal favorite poems, “Chronic Pain,” is now published at The Disappointed Housewife. This one means a lot to me–I was trying to find ways to explain what it is like living with chronic pain without talking about pain itself. For folks who don’t live with it, they don’t have many useful references or mental landmarks, so talking about chronic pain using the word “pain” isn’t useful–folks without the chronic version try their best to relate it to what they know, but they know the word “pain” in a different context entirely. I don’t know that I succeeded in doing what I wanted to do, capturing the essence of the thing, but I am pretty proud of the result. I hope you enjoy it!
