I am pretty beside myself that ONE ART: A Journal of Poetry published my poem “For the Friend Who Died Before We Could Reconcile” today. I’ve had an old college friend on my mind a lot lately. Shara was that friend, part of my sister-group, the person I was closer to than anyone, together from sunrise to, well, the next sunrise, which we usually met still awake back in those days. We had a falling out over something stupid and I always thought I had time to mend it, but she passed away very young, and I never did get to mend us. I’m honored to be included among ONE ART’s artists, and especially proud that they wanted to share this poem in particular with their readers. Wherever she is, I hope she knows she’s still wound tightly through my DNA.
